Design is increasingly seen as an effective approach to solving complex problems. Businesses and organizations have learned the value of design thinking for producing results and it has earned designers a “seat at the table” in business ventures. As we explore problems that are increasingly complicated at systemic levels, research becomes more important. Here are a few brief examples of why designers research and why dissecting design into people, object, and context actors can be a valuable part of the design process.
